Whoddathunkit?

I love meat. I'm not ashamed of it. In fact, I grew up a "steak-and-potatoes" kind of girl. Well, steak and potatoes and fish. I come from a hunting and fishing family and spent many an hour with a line in the water, or a gun slung over my shoulder.

But lately, I've eaten very little meat, and have been favouring a vegetarian lifestyle. Or rather, a lacto-ovo vegetarian lifestyle.

I'm not vegan, yet, so I won't be harping on any of you about how I'm vegan and better than you. Or not yet anyway.

It's actually going quite well for me. So far, I've managed to lose 9lbs, which isn't a lot, I know, but given I've only been engaged in this new lifestyle for a short while, I'm quite pleased.

Does this mean that I'm entirely giving up meat? No. I'm betting that, in time, I'll have a craving for a nice, thick, juicy steak, and I'll give in to it.

In the meantime, I've actually taken up cooking more. Trying this and that. I've found a new favourite soup - tomato orzo, and I've made it at least half a dozen times in the last month alone. I've also gotten into roasted vegetables - like sweet potatoes, eggplant, carrots, etc. I've never liked cooking, but finding new recipes I'd like to try out has been a lot of fun.

If you'd like to find out which recipes I've found (or created!) which I've really enjoyed, send me an e-mail below!

Also, if you're interested in your blog or website being posted on my blogroll, e-mail me! You can use the e-mail link below.

Update from May 2023: I gave up the giving up - and have since gone on a number of carnivore diets. I love meat.

Deep Thoughts

Daughter: I wish we had another kitty.
Me: No, we are not getting another kitty.
Daughter: I'll go ask Siri.
Me: Uh oh.
